Master Wes Grieme, 6th degree black belt certified by the World Taekwondo Federation, has been studying Taekwondo since 1979. He has been teaching in Luverne since 1981 and works with all ages. He is a USTF certified national referee and is currently the South Dakota President for the United States Taekwondo Federation. Many of the organization’s junior and adult black belts also assist in instruction.
Master Grieme established the Luverne Taekwondo Club, (Luverne MN) in 1981. Between 1985 and 1988, he was also instrumental in the openings of operations in Sioux Falls, SD, Lismore, MN, Garrettson, SD, Pipestone, MN, Redwood Falls, MN, West Bend, IA and Algona, IA. These Taekwondo clubs were either directly under the instruction of Master Grieme or by blackbelt students of his. Currently, the Luverne Taekwondo Association includes dojangs in Luverne, MN, Sioux Falls, SD, St. Paul, MN, and Algona, IA.
Since beginning Luverne Taekwondo, Master Grieme has promoted two students to 4th Degree Black Belt, nine students to 3rd Degree Black Belt, fifteen students to 2nd Degree Black Belt, and over sixty students to 1st Degree Black Belt and Black Belt Recommended.
Master Grieme is under the guidance of Grand Master Yong Chin Pak (Master Pak), an 8th degree black belt in Taekwondo, an instructor at Iowa State University and is the Secretary General of the United States Taekwondo Federation.
